After our 5 hour car trip, we decided to take an evening stroll on the beach. It was cooler and breezier than one might expect for the beach in July, but it was still the beach.

Matthew enjoyed running towards the water, then running away when the waves crashed.

Right after I snapped this picture, Matthew fell face first in the sand. And then the water rushed over him. He stood up wet, sandy, and very upset. Another kid ran over and gave us his towel, but Matthew was too wet for toweling off. He wanted a dry shirt. He wanted Mommy’s dry shirt.

He was still pretty mad.

We didn’t stay much longer. On the walk back, we took a few family photos. We were quite a scene, with Matthew wearing my shirt (and nothing else),  me wearing Kai’s jacket, and David refusing to walk in the sand.

This is definitely a contender for the ‘09 Christmas card photo. I especially like how David is sticking out his tongue.
