Bumps and Bruises

Yesterday, Matthew fell on the jungle gym and got a bloody nose. David did a face plant in the kitchen and bit his lip. Today, Matthew fell in the parking lot and skinned both knees. Then he got hit in the hand with a stick. David closed the baby-gate on his thumb.

None of this is out of the ordinary. Matthew has a bruise on his head and I have no idea how he got it. If I can get him to Thursday without a black eye, I’ll be ecstatic (he starts school Thursday and I don’t want them to think I am completely incompetent).

It’s the down side of the active toddler. Bumps, bruises, scrapes and minor lacerations are all part of every day life. We run and climb and play with sticks, and so we get hurt.

The up side is that a busy toddler leads to a tired toddler, which leads to a decent nap, which leads to a happy mommy.
