Holiday Party

The boys and I went to the Reston Community Center holiday party yesterday. We met up with Liz and her girls, Caroline and Katherine. Matthew is always so excited to see them. The whole thing was well organize, lots of fun, and FREE! You can’t beat it!

The kids got to make cards and picture frames with foam stickers and as much glue as their mother’s would allow. And then, oh joy!, you could decorate a cookie with frosting and sprinkles.

There was also a very patient Santa. Matthew was so funny. He wanted to see Santa, happily sat on his lap, smiled away, but wouldn’t say a word. I think he was a little awed by the beard and the red suit. I tried to get him to ask after Rudolph, or at least find out Santa’s favorite cookie, but no dice.

David would have nothing to do with Santa. Santa schmanta, is his attitude.

Then there was dancing with jingle bells and a reading of “Frosty the Snowman.”

Liz and the girls enjoyed the story and dancing.

You know it was a good outing when everyone takes a nap.

December 17, 2008. holidays, Matthew.
