Birthday Boy

Matthew was very excited for the actual DAY he turned five. He came running down to the kitchen and yelled “Birthday boy in the house!” I was glad I had gotten up early to make him pancakes and bacon.

I even made a number 5 pancake (at least, I tried.)

He headed off to Dinosaur camp, which has been a huge success, and then we celebrated with family at dinner.

Matthew’s favorite part was opening gifts, but my favorite part was watching Yeye and Grandpa putting together the t-ball set.

David is such a big help.

Matthew took it out for a test run and had a good time. Yeye gave him some pointers.

The other favorite toy came from Aunt Susie. It’s what every 5 year old needs. A rocket launcher.

A ROCKET LAUNCHER. And a baseball bat. This won’t be any trouble at all.

Nana and Aunt Susie made sure David had a good working knowledge of the rocket launcher, too.

He was pretty proud of himself.

In her defense, my sister also got the boys “School House Rock.” And since Nana and Grandpa got him a drum, he can pound along to the beat of some of my old favorite tunes. (“Conjunction junction, what’s your function? Hooking up words with phrases and clauses…..”)

Here’s hoping for a summer warm enough for lots of outside t-ball play!
