Five Year Old Stats

We had Matthew’s 5-year-old check-up this morning. Like all visits to the doctor, it had its highs and lows. He did very well for the check up, although he put on his silly face.

Height – 41.5 in. (25 %)

Weight – 40.8 lb. (50 %)

He is a happy, healthy, well-adjusted child, for which we are profoundly grateful.

Except, I think he totally failed the vision screening. It was almost comical. I could read the letters and shapes pretty well (and I don’t have perfect eye sight by any stretch) but he was having some trouble. I’ll be interested to hear what the doctor says once she has looked at the results.

And then, although I promised him he didn’t need any shots, they decided to do a blood test. Eek. And since he is five it’s no simple finger stick. He was very unhappy. I am sure that cemented his opinion that Dr. Metzdorf (the dentist – the one who has never give him a shot or drawn any blood) is his favorite.

But then we got to pee in a cup, which he thought was mighty good fun.

We left happy, with a big fat shark sticker on his front shirt.
