Dancing Fools

Sometimes we just have so much energy, we have to turn play “Everybody’s Kung Fu Fighting” and dance around the family room like maniacs.

Everybody was kung fu fighting,

Oooh! Aaah!

(something, something...) fast as lightning!

Ooh! Aaah!

The future is a little bit frightening,

and some other line that rhymes with fighting, lightning, and frightening.

You’d think I know all the words after listening to the song about 100 times.

After a half of hour of kung fu fighting/dancing Daddy was ready for a break. The boys were ready for…. More Kung Fu Dancing!

Well, that can’t be comfortable.

Root Beer Floats

These pictures are from a few weeks ago. We decided to celebrate Matthew’s hard work and good attitude at school with root beer floats. They were delicious!

It happened to fall on the same day the back of David’s head ran full-force into Matthew’s cheek.

Nothing a little soy ice cream in root beer couldn’t fix.

Happy President’s Day!

Matthew has been learning about the presidents in school. He came home one day and shared some interesting information.

“Mommy! Did you know? George Washington’s teeth were disgusting!”

I asked him if he knew who George Washington was. “A…… president?” Yes, and which one, I asked. “Uh….. I dunno.”

“Hey, Grandma!” he shouted, “Did you know? George Washington’s teeth were disgusting!”

Then he showed us his Scholastic Reader for the week. There was a spread on Mount Vernon and George Washington’s life.

Matthew is right. Washington’s teeth were disgusting.

The Other Valentine Flowers

We had a rare date night last weekend while the boys played at a special “Parent’s Night Out” at the gym. Before dinner, I got some very lovely roses from the boys.

The have lasted beautifully all week long. They smell great, too.

Casual Attire

This was the scene last weekend.

It was 30* outside.

I kept suggesting that he might be more comfortable with his clothes on.

He said he was just fine, thanks.

Flowers and Ice Pops

We had a pretty typical Valentine’s day. Steven left for a week-long trip, Matthew campaigned for a heart-shaped lollipop for breakfast, and David threw up so much we had to go to the doctor’s office.

Other people celebrate with dinner out and chocolates, but we are not other people.

I did get flowers. They came before all the fun started.

We knew David wasn’t well when he came downstairs because he climbed up in Grandma’s lap and fell back asleep. Never a good sign.

When he had thrown up for the eighth time in three hours I called the doctor. We went in and they determined it was just a virus, but we had to hang out for a while to see if he could keep down some fluids.

Fun fact – ice pops are less irritating to an upset stomach because the amount of liquid you take in is so small for the amount of time it takes to suck one down.

David came home in the afternoon, threw up a few more times, and slept like a rock.

He’s all better now. No one else (knock wood!) has gotten sick, the flowers are still pretty, and Steven comes home later tonight.

Just another week in our happy home.

PS – Grandma came to help out for the week. God bless her, she never complained, but I felt pretty bad about all the barf to which she was subjected on Monday. I’m not sure the wine and chocolates we had for her could really compensate.

Valentine Party

Today was Party Day in Kindergarten. I got to go help out at a craft station. The kids were super excited (and full of sugar after visiting the cupcake decorating table. )

I got great pictures of every other child but my own. This is the best one, but it’s fuzzy and he’s making a strange face.

The bruise is healing nicely, don’t you think?

We got a group shot, too.

Matthew dove right into his valentine’s when he got home. So far, his favorite one is a transformer.

“Mommy! It’s Optimus Prime!”

Gotta love kindergarten.

Story Time

Daddy read the boys some stories before dinner on Sunday night.

I guess they were tired.
