Silent “L”

Matthew was reading the bag of fruit snacks in the car today (don’t judge, he only gets one pack a day. And it does too have real fruit in it.)

Matthew: “Mommy, these are Super Mario fruit snacks!”

Me: “Yes, they are.”

Matthew: “See? It says S-U-P-E-R.”

Me: “Yep, that spell super.”

Matthew: “M-A-R-L-O. The “L” is silent.”

Me: “No, that’s not an “l.” It’s an “i.”

Matthew: “But it doesn’t have a dot on it.”

Me: “Well, maybe it’s a capital “l.”

Matthew: “There are no lines on the top and bottom, and there is no dot. It’s a silent “l.”

Spelling homework is going to be soooooo much fun.
