Forehead Meets Baseball Bat

* This happened a few weeks ago, but I am a little slow to blog these days *

David enjoys running around like a wild man, especially when he is playing outside. He does not always look where he is going. This was the case when we visited with friends, one of whom was cheerfully swinging his plastic bat at a t-ball.

David’s buddy, who shall remain nameless (James) hit David square in the forehead. This picture was a few hours later. It was a most impressive bruise.

It doesn’t seem to be bothering him much, does it?

Farm Field Trip

Matthew’s class went on a field trip to Great Country Farms a few weeks ago. Apparently, it rains almost every year. This year was no exception.

We learned about the life cycle of a strawberry, took a tractor ride around the fields, and fed the animals. After a picnic lunch, the kids headed home on the bus. Everyone got a sunflower seed in a pot and a small container of strawberries to take home.

Learning about strawberry plants.

The kids were split into animal groups. I was with the pigs.

Little Piggy Matthew, mugging for the camera.

Checking out the ponies.

Checking out the pigs.

Checking out the other pigs.

Oink!

I'm pretty sure these are donkeys.

Before we got there, the farm had a little mishap with one of the tractors.

Rotten wood + heavy machinery = bridge collapse.

Naturally, this was the favorite part of the farm trip.

Hey, animals you can see any day. A tractor fallen through a bridge? That’s something special.

That’s Life

Steven traveled all this week. He was gone most of the weekend for a concert. He leaves tomorrow for another business trip.

David had a fever yesterday.

Matthew has an abscess tooth.

I have an IEP tomorrow with David’s speech teacher.

We are trying to decide if we are going to get a dog.

Right about now, running away is looking mighty good.

Alligator Fishing

The boys love fishing for interesting animals,

as long as those animals are toys,

and they are inside,

and they get to shriek and giggle while they do it.

Crazy Hair

A few weeks ago the boys got their hair cut. Afterwards, they wanted crazy, standing-up hair. I found some gel and gave it a whirl.

Not that they need swirly mowhawks to look crazy.

Not at all.

I love it when the crack themselves up.

Omelettes

David wanted to cook some eggs. He really wanted to cook these eggs,

but we explained there were hard-boiled and you couldn’t really cook with them. (Later, we found out I had not actually hard-boiled them. They were raw. Every. Last. One.)

Instead, we got out some regular eggs and Steven set up to teach David how to cook an Omelette. David chose a few things from the pantry to include in his special breakfast.

I’m not even kidding. He insisted he wanted veggie chips, marshmallow fluff, AND instant ice tea (decaf, no less.) Steven is a good dad. He put all three things in.

Yes, even the tea.

Matthew gamely offered to try a bite.

He declared it, “pretty good, but not so much.”

David tried a bite, then asked for something else. Steven, being an all-around good person, ate the whole thing. He said it tasted pretty good, too, but I think he has fried his taste buds with all the hot sauce he uses.

Easter Pix

I had one goal for Easter morning – to get a nice picture of the 4 of us, dressed in our Easter best.

I failed utterly.

I did get some cute pictures of the boys hunting for eggs.

Church, brunch, baskets, eggs, and afternoon naps. It was a perfect Easter.
